•重大疾病、特定傷病保險屬於健康險的範疇，保障內容包含目前台灣地區十大疾病中的7項，特定傷病則為當前常見的嚴重疾病，多達一、二十項，不管健保將之列為不給付或部分給付，民眾須自費的就醫費用差額動輒數十萬，即使有投保住院醫療險（須先支付醫療費用，再拿收據、診斷證明書等去向保險公司申請保險金給付，予以補償），對龐大的醫療費用風險未必能完全規避，尤其重大疾病多具遺傳性，因此特別是有家族病史者，建議更應加購此類保險。
